Always up for a good adventure, Calgary-based artist Colin Smith received his education abroad studying photography. He traveled throughout Asia; North, Central and South America; the Caribbean; South Pacific and a little island off the coast of Madagascar. Always accompanied by a camera, many of his photographs made their way into magazines and newspapers, which also led him to work for aid organizations, ad agencies and in the world of moving pictures.
Today, Smith is known for building homemade camera obscuras on location and then photographing the resulting projections to produce highly saturated, breathtaking imagery which hangs on the walls of generous private, corporate and government art supporters.
