Biography

Bryan Faubert is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans graffiti, street art, sculpture, installation, public intervention, and community engagement. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary in 2020.

In 2014, Faubert founded Studio 34, an accessible sculpture studio where he taught workshops and classes while developing his own practice. This commitment to creative access and shared knowledge continues through YYC/LRT, his best-known public artwork: a decommissioned Calgary CTrain transformed into an artwork and functioning studio. Now located at the nvrlnd. Arts Foundation, the project supports workshops, mentorship, art instruction, and public programming.

The creation of YYC/LRT led Faubert to develop “Shadow Bombing,” a form of urban intervention in which a mobile GOBO projector casts temporary shadow artworks across the cityscape at scales ranging from one foot to 300 feet in diameter.

Faubert is a member of the Wolf-Sheep Arthouse Collective in Victoria and an artist at the nvrlnd. Arts Foundation in Calgary. His work has been presented nationally and internationally through graffiti exhibitions, installations, pop-ups, artist-run centres, public sculpture, and commercial galleries, including presentations at Artspace Bremerhaven and GO! – Game Over in Berlin.

Placemaking lies at the centre of Faubert’s practice. Through immersive and participatory works, he creates spaces of transition in which familiar boundaries can shift, inviting new forms of connection between people, artwork, and place.
