Endtroducing
CKG often presents an artist’s first exhibition with the gallery under the title Introducing… [Artist Name]. For Bryan Faubert’s first exhibition at CKG, that familiar introduction becomes Endtroducing—a reference to DJ Shadow’s influential 1996 album.
The title reflects both a beginning and an ending in Faubert’s artistic career. Like DJ Shadow, who assembled Endtroducing..... by layering samples from vinyl records, Faubert sees himself as a visual DJ—mixing, looping, and recombining materials, methods, and processes across media. Rooted in graffiti and street art, his practice is deeply connected to hip-hop culture.
Coinciding with the album’s 30th anniversary, Endtroducing introduces Faubert’s work in a new context while marking the close of an earlier creative chapter. He enters this next phase with gratitude and optimism.
About the Artist
Bryan Faubert is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans graffiti, street art, sculpture, installation, public intervention, and community engagement. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary in 2020.
Faubert is best known for YYC/LRT, a decommissioned Calgary CTrain transformed into a public artwork and functioning art studio. Located at the nvrlnd. Arts Foundation, the project supports workshops, mentorship, art instruction, and public programming. Its creation also led Faubert to develop “Shadow Bombing,” a form of urban intervention that uses a mobile projector to cast temporary shadow artworks across the cityscape.
Faubert is a member of the Wolf-Sheep Arthouse Collective in Victoria and an artist at the nvrlnd. Arts Foundation in Calgary. His work has been presented nationally and internationally through graffiti exhibitions, installations, pop-ups, artist-run centres, public sculpture, and commercial galleries. Placemaking is central to his practice, which explores how art can transform space and create connections between people, artwork, and place.
