Tayler Schenkeveld
Tayler Schenkeveld, whose spirit name is White Thunderbird Woman, is a Métis artist and Registered Provisional Psychologist living and working in Treaty 7 territory in Mohkinstsis, Calgary, Alberta.
Schenkeveld’s artwork brings traditional Indigenous teachings, stories, and concepts into a modern, minimalistic visual language. Her work honours the lineage, knowledge, and relationships she comes from while remaining accessible, contemplative, and deeply connected to contemporary experience.
Sky Fire is a contemporary Métis art collection that reimagines the cosmos and night sky as an active, living, and relational space. In this body of work, the stars, the Sky Fire, become companions rather than distant objects, inviting viewers to consider the celestial as kin and to rediscover themselves within an ongoing web of reciprocity, belonging, and care.
